The Wesh Harp (or Brent Reservoir) is an amazing piece of infrastructure in NW London. One of the best birdwatching spots in England, it was created between 1834 and 1835 by the Regent’s Canal Company to provide an adequate source of water for London’s canals (additional history is available on Wikipedia). Today, it’s a great spot for watching wildlife and you can also rent small sailboats and kayaks. The reservoir has been drained numerous times in its history, here’s a brief story about what they did with all the fish when the water was taken out a few years ago.
